When is brand-new better than a redo? When your client has a long wish list and her current home just can’t make those wishes come true.
Together, we decided that a new build would be better than a renovation. Now her 3-story forever home with a first-floor in-law apartment will easily allow her to age in place. She’ll have her own entrance, garage and no stairs when she eventually turns the main house over to her family.
This new build came with many challenges: complex conservation rules, heavy steel framing, a tricky hilltop location, and a porch that looks simple but wasn’t. When it was done, the homeowner couldn’t have wished for anything more.
